Announcing the pkgsrc-2026Q1 branch

The pkgsrc developers are proud to announce pkgsrc-2026Q1 the 90th
quarterly release of pkgsrc, the cross-platform packaging system.
pkgsrc contains over 29,000 packages. More information on pkgsrc
is available at https://www.pkgsrc.org/.
Since the last release (2025Q4), 141 packages were added, 2793 packages
were updated (1811 distinct ones), 4 packages were downgraded, and 154
packages were removed.
Notable package changes:
- gnupg2 now installs the "gpg" binary (instead of "gpg2")
gnupg1 now installs the "gpg1" binary.
Notable package additions were:
- Wine5, for the wine 5.0 branch
- Qt6 QtWebEngine
- Several KDE Plasma 6 packages
- ruby40, providing Ruby 4.0, in addition to the existing Ruby
versions: 3.2, 3.3, 3.4
- php85, which provides PHP 8.5, in addition to the existing PHP
versions: 5.6, 7.4, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4
- lua55, providing Lua 5.5, in addition to the existing Lua
versions: 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4
- sddm, a display manager for X11 and Wayland
- openwv, an open source reimplementation of Google's Widevine
- ndevd, NetBSD devpubd extended with event forwarding
- reovim, a Rust neovim-like text editor
- lx-cli, a re-imagined "ls"
- wsjtx, a program for weak-signal digital communication by amateur
radio
- xtop, a system monitor written in Rust
- py-typer, library and tool to create CLI applications
- minikube, for running a local Kubernetes cluster (only supported on
Linux and macOS)
Notable package updates were:
- ejabberd 26.01, an XMPP server
- mosquitto 2.12, an MQTT broker
Notable package removals were:
- PHP 8.1
- Arcticfox
- Firefox 115
